SAT AUG 17, 2013 // WHISTLING

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Late in the evening the cord progression and melody I heard in my mind so I figured out how to play it on guitar and whistled a long as best I could. Later this would turn into the song called "Indianna" that we recorded for "You Can if You Want to."

MON JULY 1, 2013 // IF I WENT BACK HOME

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

I had just returned from my friend Chris Bray’s wedding in Malibu. I was sitting in the front room of my house in the Outer Richmond in San Francisco and playing guitar. This idea came to me so I recorded it. The photograph is of a tree in the backyard of the house we stayed in for the wedding. The house, according to a drunk person, belonged to an old lady who played a ghost in the hit motion picture “Titanic” which I’ve never seen and probably never will. I will however, in the future revisit this song idea. You can begin to see what happens here.

FRI OCT 26, 2012 // I THOUGHT I WAS BEING SERENADED

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

Late at night, after a party in which we played together in a band, Sean Olmstead played a song on the piano. It was a sad and turbulent time in my life. I believe this music captures how Sean was present, and a good friend to me.
